Moroccan Socialist Union Faces Internal Turmoil Ahead of Rabat By-Election
The Moroccan Socialist Union (USFP) is facing internal strife and criticism for its failure to nominate a -election/” title=”Top Candidates Vying for the Ocean District Seat in Partial Election”>candidate for the upcoming by-election in the Rabat Ocean constituency. This pivotal election, scheduled for September 12th, 2024, is being held to fill a seat left vacant in the House of Representatives.
Party member, Chqrane Amam, voiced his concern over the USFP’s inaction, stating, “In the capital, and in the Rabat Ocean constituency… the party did not find among its sons, nor among its leaders, anyone qualified to run for the by-elections scheduled for the second week of September… There were no meetings, not even poorly attended meetings to justify the choice, except for a single picture that reflects the extent of the absurdity that controls the fate of the Socialist Union of Popular Forces.”
Amam’s statement highlights the growing frustration within the USFP ranks. The lack of transparency and internal democracy in the candidate selection process has led to accusations of apathy and a disconnect between the party leadership and its base.
