Moroccan Medical Students Meet with Royal Mediator After Boycotting Exams
Moroccan Medical Students Meet with Royal Ombudsman Amidst Exam Boycott
Rabat, Morocco - Representatives of Moroccan medical students met with the Royal Ombudsman on Thursday, September 5th, following a widespread boycott of their make-up exams. The students are protesting what they call a lack of response from the Ministry of Higher Education to their demands for improved learning conditions and a more responsive academic system.
The meeting, confirmed by both the Ombudsman’s office and student representatives, signals a potential turning point in the ongoing standoff. The students claim that the Ministry has failed to address their concerns, leading to a stalemate in their academic year.
“The fate of the academic year is the responsibility of the Ministry,” stated Hamza Ikenzi, a member of the National Committee of Medical, Pharmacy, and Dental Students. “The Ministry believes that the exams they scheduled are the solution, but we have found that they are not.”
Student sources report that the boycott, which began on Thursday, saw a participation rate exceeding 90% across various medical schools. Some faculties reported boycott rates as high as 95-
