Law Through Art” Program Returns, Empowering Students at Larache Polytechnic University
Law Through Art: Moroccan University Launches Innovative Program to Demystify Legal Concepts
Larache, Morocco – In a groundbreaking initiative to make legal knowledge more accessible, the Multidisciplinary Faculty of Larache hosted the launch of the “Law Through Art” program on July 26th, 2024. This innovative program, spearheaded by the Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation in partnership with the Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Communication, aims to revolutionize the way law is taught and understood.
This marks the third edition of the “Law Through Art” campaign, a key component of Morocco’s ambitious PACTE ESRI 2030 plan. This national strategy seeks to transform the country’s higher education, scientific research, and innovation landscape by 2030. The program is guided by renowned Moroccan artist Nawal Essagat and reflects a broader vision for a more engaged, creative, and innovative university system.
Rather than relying solely on traditional pedagogical approaches, “Law Through Art” leverages the power of artistic expression to demystify complex legal concepts and procedures. By integrating various art forms into the learning process, the program aims to foster a deeper understanding of the law and its impact on everyday life.
This immersive approach to legal education aligns with the growing global trend of incorporating arts-based pedagogy in higher education. Studies have shown that such methods can enhance student engagement, critical thinking, and knowledge retention. For instance, a study published in the Journal of Legal Education found that law students who participated in arts-based learning activities demonstrated a more nuanced understanding of legal principles and improved problem-solving skills.
The “Law Through Art” program at the Multidisciplinary Faculty of Larache is organized by Abdelmalek Essaadi University and specifically tailored for the faculty’s diverse student body. The program emphasizes the role of art in fostering innovation, creativity, and independent learning, ultimately empowering students to navigate the complexities of the legal system.
The launch event was attended by key figures from Morocco’s legal and academic communities, including the Vice President for Academic Affairs of Abdelmalek Essaadi University, the Dean of the Multidisciplinary Faculty of Larache, the Dean of the Faculty of Legal, Economic and Social Sciences in Tetouan, and the Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology in Al Hoceima. The event also saw the participation of prominent legal professionals, including professors, judges, lawyers, and members of the “Law Through Art” club.
