Morocco and Jordan Strengthen Cultural Ties with Focus on Creative Industries
Amman, Jordan – In a meeting brimming with shared visions for the future of cultural exchange, Moroccan Minister of Youth, Culture, and Communication, Mr. Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid, met with his Jordanian counterpart, Ms. Haifaa Al-Najjar, in Amman on Wednesday. The meeting, held at the esteemed Hussein Cultural Center, underscored the deep historical ties and close cooperation between the two nations, guided by the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI of Morocco and His Majesty King Abdullah II of Jordan.
Central to the discussions was the desire to bolster cultural collaboration, particularly within the burgeoning field of cultural and creative industries. This sector, recognized globally for its economic and social impact, has become a key focus for Morocco, with the nation actively developing its creative economy.
The ministers explored avenues for diversifying partnerships, fostering the exchange of expertise, and sharing valuable experiences. A key outcome of the meeting was the agreement to establish ongoing coordination between Morocco and Jordan within regional and international institutions. This collaborative approach aims to amplify the presence and impact of both nations on the global cultural stage. Further cementing their commitment, the ministers agreed to coordinate efforts to ensure a more robust and impactful reciprocal presence at cultural festivals and events held in both Morocco and Jordan.
Ms. Al-Najjar commended Morocco’s dedication to advancing its cultural landscape, highlighting the significance of cultural projects initiated by the nation. These projects, she noted, resonate with Jordan’s own vision of democratizing access to culture and integrating economic dimensions within the cultural sphere.
The meeting also served as a platform to finalize the enhancement of the bilateral executive program for cultural cooperation between the two countries. This program, nearing its final stages, is poised to usher in a new era of cultural exchange between Morocco and Jordan.
Mr. Bensaid’s visit to Amman extends beyond this significant bilateral meeting. He is also participating in the high-level International Forum on Youth, Peace, and Security, further demonstrating Morocco’s commitment to global dialogue and collaboration.
