Moroccan Broadcasting Company Cancels $10 Million Deal for Production Trucks
Moroccan National Broadcasting Company Cancels Major Deal, Prioritizes Archival Preservation
In a surprising turn of events, the Moroccan National Broadcasting Company (SNRT) has canceled a significant deal for support trucks intended for its mobile units. Sources reveal that a French company with a Moroccan branch had submitted a bid for the contract, valued at approximately 1.485 billion centimes (around $15 million USD). However, SNRT ultimately decided to scrap the deal due to technical inconsistencies in the company’s proposal.
Interestingly, this same French company secured a separate contract with SNRT for lighting equipment worth 1.12 million dirhams (around $112,000 USD).
In other news, a different French company won a bid to supply SNRT with Steadicam cameras for $373,250 USD (approximately 3.73 million dirhams). This investment highlights SNRT’s commitment to staying at the forefront of broadcasting technology.
Perhaps the most significant development is SNRT’s initiative to digitize a portion of its television archives, currently stored on vulnerable analog media. This crucial project, awarded to French audiovisual specialist Vectracom for 1.08 million dirhams (around $108,000 USD), underscores SNRT’s dedication to preserving Morocco’s rich television history for future generations.
This series of decisions reflects a strategic approach by SNRT, prioritizing long-term investments and the safeguarding of cultural heritage over potentially risky, large-scale purchases.
