Morocco Expands Access to‍ Higher ⁣Education, Responding to National Needs

Rabat, Morocco – In a move aimed at empowering its future workforce, the Moroccan Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific⁤ Research, and Innovation has announced​ a significant increase in university seats for the⁣ upcoming academic year. This initiative focuses on specialized ‍institutions with limited enrollment, reflecting the country’s commitment to aligning education ‍with evolving⁤ economic and social ⁣needs.

This year, over 56,075 seats across 83 institutions were available, marking a substantial increase in opportunities for Moroccan⁢ students. The Ministry ‌reported⁤ receiving an impressive 670,545 applications, a testament to the growing desire for higher education ‍in the country. Out of these, 138,995 applicants were selected, and 98,494 ultimately sat ​for ‍the entrance exams.

This expansion‌ is particularly noticeable in high-demand fields. For instance, the 13 medical, pharmacy, and dentistry schools offered 4,882 seats, receiving a staggering 109,698 applications. Ultimately, 49,843 students were selected, with‌ 37,685 taking the entrance exams.

The National Schools ‍of Applied Sciences (ENSA) also saw a surge in interest. With 4,060 seats across 13 institutions, they received ‌87,741 applications.⁢ 30,382 applicants were chosen, and 22,133 participated in the entrance exams.

This trend continued across various ⁤disciplines:

National Schools of Business and Management: 4,460 seats across 12 institutions, 106,639 applications, ​41,548 selections, and 28,810 exam participants.
National Schools of Arts and Crafts: 1,030 seats across 3 institutions, 83,047 applications, 17,222 selections, and 9,866 exam participants.
Faculties of Science‍ and Technology: 10,750 seats‍ across 8 institutions, 129,808 applications.
Higher Schools of ⁣Technology (EST): 12,800 seats across 20‌ institutions, 153,612 applications.
* Bachelor of Education: 18,093 seats​ across⁤ 14 institutions.

The Ministry also highlighted the success of the national online platform for post-baccalaureate guidance and registration, www.cursussup.gov.ma. This⁢ platform ⁢served as‌ the sole portal for application submission and ‍management, streamlining the process for students nationwide. Results were announced between July 29th and ‌August 5th, 2023.

Currently, universities are in the process of⁢ enrolling students accepted through the main selection process. ​ Students on waiting lists will be‌ contacted throughout August and early September.⁢ The Ministry encourages all applicants to regularly check their accounts on www.cursussup.gov.ma for updates,‌ registration confirmations, and further instructions.

For Faculties of Science and Technology and Higher ​Schools of Technology, where selection results were announced on August 4th, registration will take place on September 3rd and 4th. Applications for the Bachelor of Education program remain open on www.cursussup.gov.ma, with oral⁢ exams scheduled for September 9th to 14th.
