Morocco Boosts Road Safety with Dedicated Traffic Accident Unit in Sidi Qassem
M’CHARA BELKACIRI, MOROCCO – In a move aimed at improving road safety and enhancing citizen services, a new dedicated traffic accident unit was inaugurated at the police station in M’Chara Belkacيري, Sidi Qassem. The inauguration, which took place on Tuesday, July 30th, 2024, coincided with the 25th anniversary of the Throne Day celebrations.
Habib Nadir, the Governor of Sidi Qassem, presided over the opening ceremony. He was joined by the Deputy Wali of Security in Kenitra, officials and officers from the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), and members of the municipal council.
This new unit is a key element of the DGSN’s strategic plan to make government services more accessible and efficient for citizens. By streamlining the process of handling traffic accidents, the unit aims to provide faster response times and improved service to the more than 31,479 residents of M’Chara Belkacيري.
“The goal of this new unit is to expedite interventions and complete related procedures within the stipulated timeframes,” explained Police Chief Boukhlif El Khiyati, head of the M’Chara Belkacيري police station.
The Governor of Sidi Qassem toured the new unit and was briefed on its operations. The establishment of this unit underscores the DGSN’s commitment to enhancing security performance and promoting a citizen-centric approach to policing.
This initiative comes at a crucial time for Morocco, as the country grapples with a significant number of road accidents. According to the World Health Organization, road traffic injuries are a leading cause of death and disability worldwide, and Morocco is no exception.
