Can AI Eliminate Visa Appointment Brokers for European Travel?
The struggle to secure a visa appointment for travel to Europe, particularly Spain, has sparked a heated debate in Morocco. The heart of the issue? Idris Al-Sintisi, leader of the Haraka group in the Moroccan House of Representatives, has publicly addressed this growing concern. He recently submitted a written inquiry to Nasser Bourita, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates, urging the government to take swift action against this exploitative practice.
Al-Sintisi highlighted the plight of countless Moroccans, particularly those seeking visas for family reunification, studies, or medical treatment, who find themselves at the mercy of these brokers. These individuals are often forced to pay exorbitant fees, further exacerbating their struggles.
Labeling the brokers’ actions as “illegal,” Al-Sintisi called for immediate intervention by the relevant authorities. He proposed bolstering cybersecurity measures and harnessing the power of artificial intelligence (AI) as potential solutions. By implementing AI-driven systems, Al-Sintisi believes the online appointment system can be fortified, ensuring transparency, security, and eliminating the interference of brokers.
