Morocco Braces for Heatwave: Scorching Temperatures Expected Across Most Regions
Morocco Braces for a Scorching Wednesday with Regional Rain Showers
Get ready for a hot one, Morocco! The Directorate General of Meteorology predicts scorching temperatures across much of the country this Wednesday, August 21st, 2024.
The southeastern regions and eastern parts of southern Morocco will bear the brunt of the heatwave. Meanwhile, residents of Tadla, Rehamna, and the Souss region can expect relatively hot temperatures.
But it’s not all sunshine and sweltering heat. The Atlas Mountains, known for their cooler climate, are expected to experience scattered showers and thunderstorms. The eastern Rif, southern Oriental, and southern regions might also see some refreshing rain.
Coastal areas, particularly along the central coast and the Strait of Gibraltar, should brace for strong winds. Similar conditions are anticipated for the northern parts of southern Morocco, the southeast, and the southern Oriental region.
While some areas bake in the heat, others will experience milder temperatures. The northern regions, including Saiss and the Oriental, along with areas west of the Atlas Mountains, Souss, and the southeast, can expect lows between 23-28 degrees Celsius (73-82 degrees Fahrenheit). The rest of the country will morocco-weather-forecast-august-8th-2024/” title=”Thursday's Weather Forecast: Partly Cloudy Skies Over the Atlas and Eastern Regions”>enjoy slightly cooler temperatures, ranging from 17-23 degrees Celsius (63-73 degrees Fahrenheit).
Sea conditions will vary depending on location. The Mediterranean coast and the Strait of Gibraltar will experience calm to slightly choppy waters. The Atlantic coast will see slightly choppy to rough seas, with potentially rough to very rough conditions between Cap Hadid and Cap Ghir.
Stay hydrated, seek shade during peak hours, and be prepared for changing weather conditions.
