Morocco Weather Forecast: Thunderstorms and Strong Winds Expected Thursday
Morocco Braces for a Day of Contrasting Weather: Thunderstorms, Strong Winds, and Lingering Heat
August 29, 2024 – Morocco is set for a day of diverse weather conditions, with the General Directorate of Meteorology forecasting a mix of thunderstorms, strong winds, and lingering heat across various regions.
While the southern and southeastern parts of the country continue to experience relatively hot temperatures, a shift in weather patterns is expected to bring much-needed rainfall to other areas. The northern Atlantic coast, Middle Atlas mountains, eastern Rif region, and the eastern part of the country can expect scattered showers and thunderstorms throughout the day.
Morning commuters in the northern and central plains, as well as those along the Mediterranean coast, should be prepared for cloudy skies and the possibility of light, scattered showers accompanied by thunder. These unpredictable weather patterns are a reminder of the powerful forces of nature that shape our world.
Meanwhile, residents of the central coast, eastern region, southeastern region, and southern provinces are advised to brace for strong winds. These gusts, while potentially disruptive, play a crucial role in distributing heat and moisture across the globe.
Temperatures across Morocco will vary significantly. The southeastern and southernmost regions will experience the warmest overnight lows, ranging from 24 to 30 degrees Celsius (75-86 degrees Fahrenheit). In contrast, the Moulouya Valley, western region, plains west of the High Atlas, and the northwestern parts of the country will see cooler temperatures between 20 and 23 degrees Celsius (68-73 degrees Fahrenheit).
The High and Middle Atlas mountains, as well as the eastern High Plateaus, will experience the coolest temperatures, dipping to between 9 and 15 degrees Celsius (48-59 degrees Fahrenheit). The rest of the country can expect overnight lows between 16 and 20 degrees Celsius (61-68 degrees Fahrenheit). Daytime temperatures are expected to rise in central Morocco but drop in other areas.
Sea conditions will be generally calm to slightly choppy in the Mediterranean and the Strait of Gibraltar. The stretch between Cap Spartel and Mohammedia will experience slightly choppy waters, while the remaining coastal areas can expect slightly choppy to rough seas.
This diverse weather forecast highlights the dynamic nature of Morocco’s climate, influenced by its varied geography and proximity to both the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea.
