Scattered Showers and Thunderstorms Expected in Southern Morocco
Morocco Braces for Mixed Weather: Rain in the South, Fog in the North
Morocco’s diverse geography often translates to a varied weather landscape, and this Friday is no exception. The Directorate General of Meteorology (DMN) predicts a mixed bag of conditions across the country, with scattered showers and thunderstorms expected in the extreme south. Meanwhile, coastal areas from Sidi Ifni to Tan-Tan might experience very light, localized rainfall.
Fog is anticipated to blanket the plains of the central Atlantic coast and the northwestern parts of the Sahara region during the night and early morning. This atmospheric phenomenon, common in coastal areas, occurs when warm, moist air moves over cooler water or land, leading to condensation and reduced visibility.
Tangier and the western Mediterranean facade can expect partly cloudy skies. Moderate to somewhat strong winds are also on the forecast for the southernmost regions.
Temperature-wise, expect a slight dip across most of the country. The High Atlas and Middle Atlas Mountains, along with the southern Rif region, will experience the coolest temperatures, ranging from 9 to 14 degrees Celsius (48 to 57 degrees Fahrenheit). The south will be considerably warmer, with temperatures between 22 and 28 degrees Celsius (72 to 82 degrees Fahrenheit). The rest of Morocco will fall somewhere in between, with temperatures hovering between 15 and 21 degrees Celsius (59 to 70 degrees Fahrenheit).
As for the seas, the Mediterranean facade is predicted to be calm to slightly choppy. The Strait of Gibraltar will experience slightly choppy to rough conditions, while the waters between Cape Spartel and Tan-Tan will be rough. The remaining coastal areas can expect calm to rough seas.
