Morocco Weather Forecast: Rain and Thunderstorms Expected Saturday
Morocco Braces for a Rainy Saturday with Thunderstorms and Strong Winds
The Moroccan Directorate General of Meteorology (DMN) has issued a weather advisory for Saturday, predicting a shift in the weather pattern with the arrival of rain and thunderstorms.
Starting in the afternoon, scattered showers and locally heavy thunderstorms are expected to develop across several regions. These include the northern and central plains, the Souss-Massa region, the Rif Mountains, and the northern parts of the Sahara.
The Mediterranean coast, along with the High and Middle Atlas Mountains, can expect lighter, more scattered showers. Meanwhile, the southernmost parts of the country might experience a few raindrops and isolated thunderstorms.
In addition to the rain, the DMN warns of strong winds, particularly in the eastern regions, the central coastlines, and the Sahara.
Temperatures will vary significantly across the country. The High Atlas Mountains, the Rif Mountains, and the eastern highlands will experience the coolest temperatures, with lows ranging from 7 to 12 degrees Celsius (45 to 54 degrees Fahrenheit). In contrast, the southern Sahara will see lows between 24 and 30 degrees Celsius (75 to 86 degrees Fahrenheit). The rest of Morocco can expect a moderate range of 15 to 21 degrees Celsius (59 to 70 degrees Fahrenheit). The DMN also predicts a decrease in daytime high temperatures.
Sea conditions will be generally calm to slightly choppy along the Mediterranean coast. The Strait of Gibraltar will experience slightly choppy to rough seas, while the waters between Cape Spartel and Cape Ghir will be rough. The remaining coastal areas can expect calm to choppy conditions.
