Published: October 17, 2024
Get ready for a dynamic weather day in Morocco! The Directorate General of Meteorology predicts a Thursday full of meteorological shifts, with thunderstorms, strong winds, and a mix of sunshine and showers across the country.
The northern regions, including Tangier, the Mediterranean coast, Saïss, and Rif, along with the western interior, can expect partly cloudy skies with a chance of scattered showers or light rain. Meanwhile, the majestic Atlas Mountains will experience a mix of clear and partly cloudy skies.
Down south, things get a bit more dramatic. Tropical clouds are expected to roll in over the southernmost parts of the kingdom, bringing with them a chance of localized thunderstorms and showers. These storms may be accompanied by strong wind gusts, adding an extra layer of intensity to the day.
But the wind isn’t just a southern phenomenon. The eastern High Plateaus, Rif, Mediterranean coast, and central and southern coasts can all anticipate strong wind gusts throughout the day.
Temperature Swings Across the Nation
Morocco’s diverse geography means a wide range of temperatures. On Thursday, expect chilly lows between 39°F and 50°F (4°C – 10°C) in the Atlas Mountains, Rif, and eastern High Plateaus. The southern regions will enjoy much warmer lows between 69°F and 90°F (21°C – 32°C). The interior plains will fall somewhere in between with lows between 50°F and 57°F (10°C – 14°C). The rest of the country can expect lows between 59°F and 68°F (15°C – 20°C).
As for daytime highs, the southeastern part of the country and the southern coasts will see a rise in temperature, while the rest of Morocco will experience a slight dip.

Mariners and beachgoers beware! The sea will be rough, ranging from slightly choppy to rough in the Strait of Gibraltar and along the Mediterranean coast. North of Tan-Tan, expect rough seas that will become even rougher in the afternoon. The rest of the coastline will experience slightly choppy to rough seas.
