Thunderstorms and Strong Winds to Hit Morocco on Thursday
Morocco Braces for a Wild Thursday: Thunderstorms and Strong Winds Expected
Rabat, Morocco – Get ready for a dynamic weather day, Morocco! The Directorate General of Meteorology has issued a special weather statement for Thursday, forecasting a mix of thunderstorms, strong winds, and fluctuating temperatures across various regions.
The eastern part of the Errachidia region and the southernmost tip of the Oriental region are expected to experience scattered showers and thunderstorms. Coastal areas should be prepared for low-lying clouds and patches of fog, particularly during the morning and evening hours.
Strong winds are also on the menu for Thursday. The southeastern regions, along with the central and southern coastlines, will bear the brunt of these gusts.
Temperature Rollercoaster:
Thursday’s temperatures will be a mixed bag across the country. Expect a comfortable range of 68-77°F (20-25°C) in areas like Chichaoua, the northwestern regions, the southern Sahara, and the extreme southeast.
However, the Atlas Mountains will experience a much chillier day, with temperatures hovering between 37-47°F (3-8°C). The eastern High Plateaus and the Rif region will see temperatures around 48-52°F (9-11°C). The rest of Morocco can anticipate moderate temperatures between 54-66°F (12-19°C).
The good news is that northern and central Morocco can expect a warm-up as the day progresses.
Coastal Conditions:
The Mediterranean Sea and the Strait of Gibraltar are predicted to be relatively calm, with waves ranging from calm to slightly choppy. Between Tangier and Mohammedia, expect choppy to rough seas. The stretch between Rabat and Boujdour will experience rough to very rough conditions, while the remaining coastal areas will face rough seas.
This type of dynamic weather is not uncommon in Morocco, particularly during transitional seasons. The interaction of various weather systems, including the remnants of summer heat and the approaching cooler air masses, can create these volatile conditions.
