Morocco Weather Forecast: Foggy Coasts and Heatwave Continues Tuesday
Morocco Braces for a Tuesday of Fog and Heat
The Moroccan Directorate General of Meteorology has issued its forecast for Tuesday, August 6th, 2024, predicting a mixed bag of weather across the country. While areas/” title=”Sudden Weather Shift: Heat, Fog, and Wind Expected in These Areas”>coastal areas will experience low-hanging clouds and patches of fog, particularly during the morning and night, inland regions can expect continued warm temperatures.
The plains west of the Atlas Mountains, including Saiss, the eastern region, the southeastern region, and areas around Smara, will experience relatively hot temperatures. This aligns with broader climate trends in the region, as Morocco, particularly its southern regions, is becoming increasingly vulnerable to the effects of climate change, including rising temperatures and desertification.
Meanwhile, the Atlas Mountains, southern, southeastern, and eastern regions can expect partly cloudy skies. Strong winds and sand gusts are also anticipated in southern, southeastern, and eastern Morocco.
Temperatures will vary across the country. Coastal regions and mountainous areas will experience cooler temperatures, ranging from 15 to 19 degrees Celsius. The rest of the country will see lows between 20 and 23 degrees Celsius. The Tadla plains, Moulouya valleys, southeastern, and eastern parts of the southern regions will experience the warmest lows, ranging from 24 to 29 degrees Celsius.
High temperatures are expected to remain relatively stable throughout the country, with only slight increases in some areas.
Sea conditions will vary depending on location. The Mediterranean facade will experience calm seas, while the Strait of Gibraltar will see calm to slightly choppy waters. The waters between Casablanca and Agadir will be rough, while the remaining coastal areas can expect slightly choppy to rough seas.
