Morocco Braces for Heavy Thunderstorms and Hail
The Moroccan Directorate General of Meteorology (DMN) has issued an orange-level weather warning for several regions, forecasting heavy thunderstorms and hail throughout the day.
The alert, issued on August 25th, 2024, predicts thunderstorms with precipitation between 15 to 25 millimeters accompanied by strong wind gusts. These storms are expected to hit between 1 PM and 10 PM local time in the following provinces:
Midelt
Figuig
Tinghir
Ouarzazate
Azilal
Beni Mellal
* Boulemane
Residents and visitors to these areas are advised to take necessary precautions, including seeking shelter indoors during storms, avoiding low-lying areas prone to flooding, and staying informed about weather updates from official sources.
