However, this is just the tip of the iceberg. During the first half of Moro’s term, the council has faced a staggering 300 million centimes (approximately $3 million USD) in legal settlements. These cases range from property damage claims to contract disputes with private companies.
One notable case involves a hotel that sued the council after several of its vehicles were impounded by the city without proper justification. The court ruled in favor of the hotel, ordering the council to pay 400,000 dirhams (approximately $40,000 USD) in damages.
In another instance, a medical company took legal action against the council for failing to comply with a previous court order regarding unpaid dues. The court, once again, sided with the company, awarding them 200,000 dirhams (approximately $20,000 USD) in compensation.
These cases highlight a concerning pattern of financial mismanagement and disregard for contractual obligations within the Tangier City Council.
