Morocco Braces for Heatwave with Strong Winds
Morocco Braces for Warm Temperatures and Strong Winds
Get ready for a blast of warm air, Morocco! The Directorate General of Meteorology has issued a weather advisory for Wednesday, October 3rd, 2024, forecasting relatively high temperatures across several regions.
The plains west of the High Atlas Mountains, the extreme south-east, the Souss region, and the southern provinces can expect to feel the heat. While warm temperatures are common in Morocco, particularly in the south, these regions may experience temperatures above the seasonal average.
But it’s not just the heat; be prepared for some blustery conditions too. Strong winds are expected to sweep across the western Mediterranean facade, the Middle Atlas, the Moulouya Valley, and the central and southern coasts. Residents in these areas are advised to secure loose objects and take precautions against wind-related hazards.
Meanwhile, those in the Atlantic plains and the north-west of the southern provinces might wake up to foggy mornings and evenings. Local dust is also anticipated in the western Sahara regions.
Here’s a more detailed look at the forecast:
Temperatures: Expect lows between 20-26 degrees Celsius (68-79 degrees Fahrenheit) in the plains west of the High Atlas, the Chiadma region, the Souss region, the extreme south-east, and southern Morocco. The rest of the country will see cooler temperatures, ranging from 15-21 degrees Celsius (59-70 degrees Fahrenheit).
Sea Conditions: The Mediterranean facade and the Strait of Gibraltar will experience calm to slightly choppy waters. However, the Atlantic coast can expect choppy to rough seas.
