Morocco Braces for Mixed Weather Friday: Rain, Wind, and Warm Temperatures
Get ready for a mixed bag of weather this Friday as Morocco experiences a diverse range of conditions across its regions. From scattered showers in the north to warm temperatures in the south, here’s a closer look at what’s in store.
The Moroccan Directorate General of Meteorology predicts scattered showers for the Tangier, Loukkos, and West Rif regions. Light rain or drizzle is also expected in the Gharb, Saiss, Middle Atlas, Chaouia, Doukkala, and coastal areas between Tiznit and Laayoune.
Meanwhile, the High Atlas Mountains and the extreme south of the country can expect scattered showers and thunderstorms. The southern regions will experience relatively warm temperatures.
Windy conditions are also on the horizon. Be prepared for local sand-carrying winds in the south, with potentially strong gusts in the southern regions, the Mediterranean facade, and near the central coasts.
Temperature Swings Across the Country
Temperatures will vary significantly across Morocco. Expect lows between 22 and 29 degrees Celsius (72-84 degrees Fahrenheit) in the extreme south, 9 to 15 degrees Celsius (48-59 degrees Fahrenheit) in the Atlas and Rif regions, and 14 to 21 degrees Celsius (57-70 degrees Fahrenheit) in the rest of the country. Daytime temperatures are expected to drop slightly.
Coastal Conditions
The sea will be calm to slightly choppy on the Mediterranean coast, slightly choppy in the Strait of Gibraltar, and slightly choppy to rough along the Atlantic coast.
