Thunderstorms and Heavy Rain Expected Across Morocco on Wednesday
Morocco Braces for Thunderstorms and Dramatic Temperature Shifts
Get ready for a dynamic weather day in Morocco! The country’s meteorological agency, Direction Générale de la Météorologie (DMN), has issued a forecast predicting a Wednesday full of dramatic weather shifts, including thunderstorms, strong winds, and fluctuating temperatures.
The Atlas Mountains, known for their stunning landscapes, are expected to bear the brunt of the storm. The DMN predicts strong, localized thunderstorms with the potential for hail in the High and Middle Atlas ranges. The mountainous regions, along with the phosphate plateaus and Tadla plains, should brace for a drop in temperature, with lows ranging from 8-14°C (46-57°F).
Meanwhile, the southern regions, including the Souss-Massa region and the southeastern tip of the country, will experience milder temperatures, with lows hovering between 18-24°C (64-75°F). The rest of Morocco can expect moderate lows between 15-20°C (59-68°F).
But the weather story isn’t just about the mountains. The Anti-Atlas Mountains, Rehamna province, and the interior Chaouia region will also see scattered thunderstorms and localized showers. The northern Sahara region can anticipate partly cloudy skies, while the Mediterranean coast may experience dense low clouds and light drizzle.
Adding to the atmospheric drama, fog and low clouds are expected to blanket the northern eastern region and the central and northern Atlantic coasts during the night and morning hours. Meanwhile, the Sahara region will contend with local dust storms, and Tangier will experience strong to very strong wind gusts.
As for the daytime highs, expect a rise in temperature in the north and east of the Sahara region. However, the rest of Morocco will see a decrease in temperature, highlighting the dynamic nature of the day’s forecast.
sea conditions are predicted to be rough between Mehdia and Tan Tan, while the Mediterranean coast, the Strait of Gibraltar, and the remaining coastal areas will experience slightly rough to rough seas.
Stay tuned for updates from the DMN, and be sure to check local forecasts before venturing out on Wednesday.
