Alleged Bribery Scandal Rocks Tetouan Court: Lawyer Accused of Stealing $60,000 from Detainee’s Family
Tetouan, Morocco – A shocking allegation of bribery has surfaced in the Tetouan Court of Appeal, shaking public trust and raising serious questions about legal ethics. A lawyer from the Tetouan Bar Association is facing accusations of swindling $60,000 from the family of a detainee, promising a reduced sentence in exchange for the hefty sum.
The alleged victim’s wife claims she handed over the money to the lawyer, who assured her it would be passed on to a judicial body to secure a reduced sentence for her husband. The man had been sentenced to eight years in prison for jewelry theft. The lawyer reportedly promised to leverage the money to reduce the sentence to four years.
However, when the appeal upheld the original eight-year sentence, the family grew suspicious. Upon confronting the lawyer, he allegedly dismissed their concerns, claiming the money had already been given to the judges and was non-refundable.
