Morocco Solidifies Ties with Mauritania at Presidential Inauguration
Nouakchott, Mauritania – In a gesture underscoring the strong ties between Morocco and Mauritania, Moroccan Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch traveled to Nouakchott on Thursday to represent King Mohammed VI at the inauguration of Mauritanian President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani.
President Ghazouani secured his second term in a decisive first-round victory, capturing 56.12% of the vote in the June 29th election. This decisive win reflects the president’s continued popularity and the Mauritanian people’s confidence in his leadership.
Upon arrival at the Nouakchott airport, Prime Minister Akhannouch was warmly greeted by Mauritanian Prime Minister Mohamed Ould Bilal Massoud and the Moroccan ambassador to Mauritania, Hamid Chabar. This cordial welcome highlights the mutual respect and strong diplomatic relations between the two nations.
Morocco and Mauritania share a long history of cooperation on various fronts, including trade, security, and cultural exchange.
